We've used our Rockpot once so far and it worked GREAT.
So easy, prepped the food the night before. The next morning, while heating the stone on the stove top, we put the inner pot on top of it and threw the prepped food in to preheat.
After half an hour, we put the stone in the insulated pot and then put the inner pot on top, covered with the glass lid and closed/latched the cover and left it alone.
5 hours later, opened it up and had dinner, perfectly cooked!
The ROCKPOT worked very well. Cooked the food kept it warm and delicious.
I got my Rock Pot about a month ago and have made stew, soups, roast, and bread. Everything has turned out perfectly. I love that it is so versatile and requires no electricity. It’s an absolutely brilliant invention for the hiker, RV’er, camper, survivalist or even busy parents or professionals. Love, love, love it!
Only used it twice so we need to get busy to make it pay for us. The other two we bought is for our sons for Christmas.
This was soo easy and the flavor was soo good. 6 1/2 hours later we had an awesome tender cooked roast.
Great concept, feels like quality. Seems to not do as it says. Heated the stone for a long time and come back to find my roast still not done. 1st attempt Stone was on a good set of coals of fire pit for 2 hrs, outside temp was 30°, let it cook for 8 hrs, meal was cold/luke warm, when I lifted lid. 2nd attempt, high 20°s, rock in coals in the flame for 2.5 hours, set to cook again, let it go all night, checked it next morning, and meat was just brown, potatoes still not cooked. Both times cooker was in the insulated case and zipped shut, and placed in my jeep, so it was not exposed to elements.
This is frustrating as I depended on this for my meal while camping, and had to eat other food. My hunt partner took the whole thing to his house and his wife cooked it the rest of the way in her pressure cooker at home. Then hunt partner brought meal back to camp.
Hey Ed,
Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the Rockpot, and I’m truly sorry to hear about the challenges you faced. We understand how frustrating it must have been to rely on the Rockpot for your meal during your camping trip, only to have it not turn out as expected.
When heating your rocktablet over a fire its very important to have tablet submerged in the fire with wood placed on top. We have a very easy to follow video on how to build the right fire to heat your tablet. The only reason your food did not cook was because your Rocktablet was not heated properly. We have used it 3 times now works great . In recipe book you need to fix a sentence on Cherry dump cake I think where you wanted to say dump the cake mix and you put dump the peaches in.
This is a great product. So far I have only used my rockpot twice. Once for a pork roast and Once for a beef stew. Both came out perfect. I can't wait to see how homemade chili comes out next.
This pot makes the crockpot outdated. To prep it all in the pot you will cook it in and not worry about having something plugged in while you are gone or even cooking while traveling which a crockpot can’t do is amazing. Cleanup is easier than with a crockpot and keeping food warm during holiday gatherings is made simple. No need to have an outlet to cook or keep warm. The pros go on and on. This is a pot everyone should have.
Practically anything you can make in a crockpot, you can do in the Rockpot.
I made my first meal using my ROCKPOT the other day. We have an off-grid cabin in Colorado and as I was making breakfast I heated up the ROCK. I made Mississippi Roast and put the inner basket with potatoes, carrots and butter on top. My husband was guiding a fly fishing trip and I had laundry and errands to run in town (30 minutes away). Coming home to a hot delicious meal was AMAZING!! The clean-up was a breeze. I can’t wait to try something else. I would definitely buy again!!!
I live off grid with no electricity, no refrigerator, no water (I haul it in), and in a very tiny but cozy converted school bus. The Rock Pot changed my life. It was much easier for me to get off work and hit a drive-thru then it was to stop at the store, go home, cook in the already hot space, etc. with The Rock pot, I can purchase a large roast, cook it slowly, and then after the cooking is done and I have eaten my fill, I take out the rock insert and put ice in the bottom of the pot. Reheat, repeat, till it's gone. Brilliant!! Also it makes it very simple to take food to my church potlucks. It doesn't need anything ..food can cook during the drive! Thank you Rock Pot!
I have prepared and cooked two meals in the crockpot so far and it’s spot on and works like advertised. Our beef stroganoff was cooked and warm ready to eat 9 hours later..Perfect!
Using my pot 3 x’s week. Nice to have dinner ready when I get home and not have an appliance burning electricity
Best camping investment ever! Ive tried several recipes so far and loved everything I’ve cooked! Can’t wait to make more mouth watering meals in my rock pot!
We bought this for several reasons: 1. We love to boondock and thought this would work well for that (after using it, we are now convinced it will be a great asset for boondocking), 2. For Emergencies i.e. electric outages (we can heat up the stone with a fire in our fireplace or on our gas stove in our RV).
We made our first meal in it today and just loved the results. It was easy to use. We are excited to try other recipes and will be using this in our home as well as the RV and during emergencies.
I’m not sure how to store the extra insert pans that set over top of food in the bottom. The lid won’t lock down
We have used the Rock Pot numerous times since we bought it, including during a camping trip a week ago. It’s a great product. Downside- we never received the storage/ carrying bag that was out of stock
Hi Steven,
Thats correct. You havent recieved your bag beause we are out of stock on the bags are on backorder. They are expected to arrive middle of May.
I’ve had my Rock Pot for about a month now and have been experimenting at home. I shared my dishes on our Airstream camping club website. I’m heading to a rally this weekend and everyone wants to see this wonderful product. You can expect some orders soon!!
